GIGABYTE Unveils Z890 D Plus: A Streamlined Z890 Motherboard for Budget Builders
GIGABYTE has expanded its Intel Z890 motherboard lineup with the introduction of the Z890 D Plus, a model designed for users seeking essential features at an accessible price point. Following the recent launches of the Z890 AORUS Elite WIFI7 Plus and Z890 Eagle WIFI7 Plus, the Z890 D Plus stands out as one of the most minimalist Z890 chipset-based motherboards available, offering robust compatibility with Intel’s latest Core Ultra 200S Plus processors, including the 250K Plus and 270K Plus.
Essential Features with the Power of Z890
The GIGABYTE Z890 D Plus is built on the ATX form factor and is engineered to deliver reliable performance without unnecessary extras. It omits advanced connectivity options such as 40 Gbps USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 ports, as well as integrated wireless LAN, focusing instead on core functionality. This approach makes it an attractive choice for PC builders who prioritize value and stability over premium features.
Power Delivery and Expansion Options
The motherboard is powered by a standard 24-pin ATX connector alongside dual 8-pin EPS connectors, supporting a 12+1+2 phase VRM for efficient CPU power delivery. The LGA1851 socket supports the latest Intel processors and is paired with four DDR5 memory slots for high-speed RAM configurations.
For expansion, the Z890 D Plus offers a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot equipped with an easy-eject mechanism, ideal for high-performance graphics cards. Storage flexibility is provided by one M.2 Gen 5 x4 slot with a dedicated heatsink and three additional M.2 Gen 4 x4 slots, two of which are connected directly to the Z890 chipset. Four SATA 6 Gbps ports are also available for traditional storage devices.
Connectivity and I/O
While the Z890 D Plus does not include USB4 or Thunderbolt 4, it features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port (10 Gbps) on the rear panel for fast data transfers. Networking is handled by a 2.5 GbE wired LAN port powered by a Realtek controller, ensuring reliable and fast internet connectivity. The onboard audio solution utilizes the Realtek ALC887 codec, providing essential audio capabilities for everyday use.
For display output, the motherboard includes a full-size DisplayPort. The rear panel is equipped with SMD buttons for power, reset, clear CMOS, and USB BIOS flashback, offering convenient access for system maintenance and troubleshooting.
A Practical Choice for Cost-Conscious PC Builders
The GIGABYTE Z890 D Plus is tailored for users who want the performance and reliability of the Intel Z890 platform without the added cost of premium features. Its streamlined design, solid power delivery, and essential connectivity make it a compelling option for budget-conscious enthusiasts and system integrators looking to build with the latest Intel processors.
