Bethesda Studios to Reveal Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster
Bethesda Studios has officially announced that they will reveal the long-awaited remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in a live stream scheduled for April 22. The event will kick off at 8:00 a.m. PT (11:00 a.m. ET, 4:00 p.m. BST) and will be streamed on both YouTube and Twitch. The teaser image features a close-up of a battle-worn eye next to the Roman numeral IV, with the tagline "All will be revealed." Fans are eagerly awaiting this significant announcement, following a series of leaks in recent weeks.
Community members discovered a hidden backend link to an official Oblivion remaster website, and images reportedly from Virtuos Studio showcased a modernized version of the original 2006 game. Bethesda has now confirmed these rumors with a teaser post on X.
The remastered Oblivion has been rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5, with enhanced textures, revamped lighting, and potential new environmental effects. Speculation suggests updates to the combat system inspired by Souls-style blocking, as well as improvements to stealth, archery, and stamina management to meet current gaming standards.
There are rumors that Bethesda may surprise fans by releasing the remaster on the same day as the reveal, allowing players to purchase or download it immediately. The game is expected to launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, similar to the platforms of the original release in 2006 on Xbox 360 and Windows, followed by a PlayStation 3 port in 2007.
While there is no confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 edition, as an Xbox first-party title, the remaster will likely be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, giving subscribers instant access.
