Exciting Times for GPU Enthusiasts
Every couple of years, those of us who are passionate about technology eagerly anticipate the latest offerings from the leading GPU manufacturers. This moment has arrived, with both NVIDIA and AMD introducing their Blackwell and RDNA 4 products. NVIDIA has also revealed its new laptop lineup, including the RTX 5080 Laptop aiming to dominate the mainstream high-performance market. Just days after its release, we are already getting a glimpse of the potential performance of the mobile Blackwell.
The leaked Geekbench OpenCL results, obtained from the Alienware Area-51 laptop, showcase the impressive performance of the RTX 5080 Laptop GPU in a 175-watt configuration. The benchmark scores indicate that the RTX 5080 Laptop has surpassed the 190,000-points mark, significantly outperforming its predecessor which scored around 160,000 points. Interestingly, the RTX 4090 Laptop lags behind with an average score of 180,000 points, although systems with better cooling solutions can achieve higher results. It is important to note that the consumer Blackwell offers more than just raw performance, with features like DLSS 4.0 utilizing AI technology to enhance performance in various scenarios.
The official launch is scheduled for March, so we will have to wait a few more months before we can test these systems ourselves. In the meantime, it is advisable to approach leaked benchmarks with caution and skepticism.
